  • Royal College of Art / Imperial College London, Industrial Design Engineering (IDE), 2007 – 2009

(MA) RCA; (MSc, DIC) IC.

  • Imperial College London, Mechanical Engineering, 2002 – 2006

(MEng) Grade 2:1.  Specialized courses included Finite Element Analysis, Integrated Design and Manufacture, Entrepreneurship, Advanced Polymer Engineering Technology, Advanced Vibration Engineering, Vehicle Propulsion, Creative Writing and French.

Software Skills

  • I have used Solidworks extensively throughout my professional and academic career, including analysis (FEA) and manufacturing (CAM) aspects of the program.  I have tutored on the Solidworks course at Imperial for the last two years.
  • I also use Rhino and a few other modelling programs.
  •  FEA programs (mostly for Stress analysis) such as Abaqus and Ansys.
  • For 3D rendering, I use mostly Cinema 4D or Solidworks’ PhotoWorks, but have also used 3D Studio Max.
  • Adobe imaging software, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premier etc.
  • Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Word, Project and others.
  • Analysis tools such as Matlab.
  • I have programmed using ‘Processing’ which interfaces with the Arduino platform, an open-source electronics prototyping platform aimed at designers.

Awards, Competitions, Exhibitions

  • ‘Ice Cool’ my final year IDE solo project was shortlisted for the inaugural Withers Prize, was finalist for Innovation RCA’s Selected Works Intellectual Property competition, shortlisted for Design London Incubator investment,  and has been exhibited at Exploring Innovation at the RCA and see @
  • Freekey,’ for a novel mobile phone UI, receiving 3rd prize in the Hutchinson /3 Mobile Lifephone Competition.  
  • ‘Solar Ivy’, a group project from my first year was a selected entry for the iF Concept Award of 2009, and was exhibited at the Seoul Design Olympiad, in Jamsil Stadium in 2008.
  • ‘C-Lever chairs’ were also for sale at the Modern Art & Design Auction by Lyon & Turnbull in London, 2008.
  • Professionally, USBCell, and the products I worked on whilst at Moixa Energy have appeared in many national magazines and publications, and won a gold at the 2008 iF Design Awards.
  • I am also a Design Fellow of the Royal Commission of 1851.
